[DIY] How to make your own button with DAISO's button kit!

by - 7/24/2012 09:29:00 AM

This is a simple DIY post about how to make your own buttons!!
If you're in Singapore, you can find this 'covered buttons' item in the crafts section @ DAISO!
They have all types of sizes and they sell a packet with just the buttons so you can make more!
This packet is the starter kit!!
PLEASE NOTE! The starter kit and the extension packet look EXACTLY ALIKE
It's just that the things they have are different.
Make sure you look at the package carefully before buying it!!

Oh and because it's from DAISO...
IT'S $2!!!!!

WHAT YOU NEED
included in the package:
1x green cap
1x top of the button
1x bottom of the button
1x clear cap
what you need to prepare:
1x scissors
small piece of cloth (for the button)

Oh also!!
I'll be making a 27mm button!
It's the biggest size they have if I'm correct.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the piece of cloth on top of the clear cap
(the bottom of the cap being downwards...
aka the cap is upside down)

2. Place the top of the button on top of the cloth

3. PUSH DOWN THE BUTTON!
*push push push*

4. After you push the button all the way down...
cut the excess part of the cloth
(I'm using felt so I had to cut A LOT of the excess cloth...
if not the button doesn't stick together because the cloth is too thick!)

5.  Place the bottom of the button on top of the excess cloth
(looks like a pot, right??)

6. Use the Green Cap and push the button until you kinda hear this...
*ka-click* sound... If not you can just take the green cap off and see
if the top and bottom button merged together!
(This requires a little bit of strength if you're using felt)
*shows off some arm muscle*

7. Push the button out!

*pops out*

CONGRATULATIONS!
YOU NOW HAVE A BUTTON!

...

So this is what the final product will look like!

The front of the button

The back of the button

Really simple right?
You can use different fabric,  patterns, and colors to create your very own buttons!
These are cute if you want to change the buttons on your shirts, accessories, etc.!

I made two!!

...

There's a reason why I used black and felt for this button...
BUT IT'S STILL A SECRET!
*SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*

I'll update you guys when the cat can come out of the bag!

Are you into making DIY things?
